Final Stint

I've finally made time to put up a final post summing up the Abu Dhabi experience.

Welll I forgot to mention one major culture appreciation lesson in my last blog. The spaniards and portuguese peole love to sing. especially at around 10.30 at night in the back of the bus on an hour and a half journey, when they are sitting beside me. Oh and in portuguese... A language I don't even understand... Not that i undertsand anything other than english... But still. At the top of their lungs.. That was a lesson.

But otherwise we hit up Dubai and thet was amzing, the shopping, the souks, the buildings. Wow, really sums it all up. We then headed off for our final stint home, I got slightly side tracked at Singapore airport and purchased an ipad.. My new baby :)

But now its into the stress/annoyance of exams. Worst time ever. Take home exam due Sunday- who the flip gives out take home exams- its two essays due right before you start your exams. Retard. As if anyone is acually going to do well. Then accounting- which will be the death of me Tuesday, Wednesday PR Media- shall be fine, and lovely economics Thursday!

Then it's all over red rover until September and the UK!

 Wooohooo!

However good news on that front! Recieved a massive grant from uni for exchange! So that is fantastic! Well this was my little break between finishing my essays!

Oh the joy! One week today and it will all be over!

New world feats!

What a day. I don't even know where to begin.

So much covered, learnt, experienced and felt!

I visited the Largest mosque in the world and it was spectacular! A true marvel. Then traveled to the Abu Dhabi Media centre where all news channels and Tv shows are recorded presented and aired i.e. sunrise set, today tonight, the 6pm project etc....

It was amazing! We saw all the sets, were taped, and saw the behind the scenes of the running of everyday news and talk show hosts.

The people throughout the entire day at all the touristy and business places we visited were some of the happiest and welcoming people i have ever had the pleasure to meet. There respect, and generosity is constant. It simply showed what was missing from Australia and our characters.

This afternoon/evening was a whole new level!

We did a 'Desert Safari'... Including 4WDriving in the dunes, camel rides, quad riding, sand boarding, henna tattoos, belly dancer, traditional food and dancing! All sett in the middle of the desert in a terracotta fortress. It was spectacular! When i have a chance i will upload the photos. Most definitely the best thing to occur so far!

Well now i have just finished packing, off to do some sightseeing tomorrow in Dubai, and the begin the long trek home tomorrow night!

Then some freedrinks at the crown plaza hotel. Booyeah... Now sleep before desert safari and touristy things tomorrow!

Soooo hot I swear I'd melt I'd if was chocolate.... Ps fun fact for the day... One of the presenters last name is.... wait for it..... Slutsky....... awkward....

Ms. Carter Day 2

What lovely day two of travels.  I arrived to this:

(Way to make a girl feel special!)

This morning woke nice an early wandered down to breakfast which was absolutely delicious at the hotel with the girls. The staff are extremely thoughtful and pleasant to be around.

We then proceeded to catch the shuttle into Abu Dhabi city where I met my new one true love. H&M's.

Like Narnia, beautiful street lamps.

On From there we visited the heritage village park, saw dead goats skin used for carrying milk, with dried balls still intact. Self explanatory see below.

Out front of the heritage park, sandstorm on it's way!

Please note the the lower section....

From there we visited the Marina Mall a massively large shopping centre with Carefour. Just another fav.

We then haggled our way to the central market souks, buying little treasures and leaving with arms full and nails freshly french manicured.

We then meet our global teams, for the public relations conference. They are all so lovely and funny. Had a tour around a brand new million and millions of dollar spectacular Zayed University, two campus one for male one for female.

(Amazing circle library with seats in the shelves!)

The forbidden door. There is generally a guard stationed outside this door, our tour leaders, both female of course have never once been through these doors or stepped foot on the male area. They were both genuinely fearful and apprehensive of myself taking photos of this! Insane cultural differences.

Dinner was fabulous, and I am absolutely shagged and feeling slightly crook. So hitting the bed for another full day tomorrow!

Best moment today bartering with the locals and then walking away with a bargain!

Journey to the Middle East Pt 1

Safe and sound, my favourite song and current situation.

I am in Abu Dhabi, sitting in bed at 10.05 pm, feeling like it's 2.05am with around 3 hours sleep in the last 30 hours.

Heres whats happened so far.

The two sweet girls I've embarked upon this journey with are awesomely fun and spontaneous, which means we each have so far had our individual blonde moments.

Blonde moment one (mine)
"I have no idea how much these notes are each worth", (on my behalf it was 11.55pm before boarding the plane)
"Ahh turn them over, there you go, numbers on one side, arabic on the other,"

Blonde moment two (Mila):
Back info required to understand the joke, when leaving Australia you need to fill out a small form saying where you are going etc.

"Where's your destination?" Immigration lady.
"Indonesia"
"Where are you flying to?"
"Abu Dhabi U.A.E"....."Ohhhhhh"

Not your nationality.....

Blonde moment three (Jessica):
Background info: we had quite openly and loudly been mocking a shop in duty free that sold abolone. Who takes an esky full of abalone on a 6 hours plane trip?

Answer the Asian tourist in front of us.

This all before we left Perth international.

We then flew to singapore, enjoying loud headphones and snoring passengers,a nd dodgy dodgy food.
Maccas for breakfast in Singapore as we had a 6 hour stop over, then onto the 8 hour flight to Abu dhabi. This was not very eventful.

So now here I am just back from having the yummiest shepherd pie that could fed an army! Watching the formula 1's practice and about to nod off.

0 sleeps

So todays D-Day 1.1.
The packing is an organised riot. See below.

That doesn't look like much. Because it isn't.

I even bought this super cute small toiletry bag so it's impossible to over pack in that department aswell! Courtesy of Target.

I have an organised outfit for each and and evening event of the conference! That way i'm organised and am not packing irrelevant items that take up much needed luggage room!

Well on my to buy list bat the moment is, stockings, neurofen, and cash :)

I'm sure that shall expand by this evening when I begin the weekly trip to Perth.

The next update will be on the other side of the world! x

A love story

A blog update. ALL ASSIGNMENTS are done! Hallelujah 4 exams and its all over red rover and Europe all ON!

Getting slightly excited! Six sleeps until I begin my first international flight solo- Abu Dhabi baby!

I am slightly apprehensive I will admit- who knows what sort of crazy lunatics I am about to run in to!

Today’s my last day at my part time job that I have had for the last 7 months. What a blessing it has been, relaxed, good pay, own boss! So lucky, and plus I’ve learnt quite a lot I didn’t know.

But I am stressing about the whole money situation. Don’t know if I shall have enough, but guess I shall just pray and hope things turn out for the best! Can't do much else!

At the moment I am finishing off William and Kate, A love Story- I'm really enjoying it! So can't wait to see how they try to portray Kate :)
