attempt One

So I have attempted many things in life, none so many times as a blog. Oh, how I have tried to maintain an actual blog, or any sort of daily recording; a journal, a diary. But I have found that the only times I have actually successfully and by successful I mean at least being consistent for 2 weeks, was and has been during really stressful or exciting times. Depends on your point of view, really. The one time in my 19 almost 20 year of existence that this happened was when I began my military training. Recruits. Four months of absolute terror. The people that enjoyed the constant stream of abuse and training are sick. Psychology ill. That’s all I will say the topic.

So, I decided considering the next few years of my life should get a bit dicey perhaps even entertaining, why not give it another go. Similar to the idea that oh I know last time I had that extra shot but really I’m sure my tolerance has improved, I’ll give it another go. Head in toilet the next day. Was so not worth it. But at the risk of failing again, what the heck.

Before I begin studiously tapping away at keys I had a look around at other travel blogs, and the types of comments people made about so called ‘travel’ blogs. Basically I want to clear up something, this blog will be about bits of travel that I’ll do, the random things I may come across in my planning, experiencing and adventure. It is not a travel blog that will tell people all the cheapest and best routes to take. Considering I’ve never been to these places I plan to go to, I am 100% certain that I’ll be ripped off at least half a dozen times, but I can guarantee by the end of the trip I’ll be doing the ripping off.

One other note that you might need to be aware of is in my close circle of friends I’m quite renowned for being a ‘messy’ typer. Simply explained I’m always in such a rush when typing, that when I type words onto the screen I inadvertently press every key bar the one I was meant to. Therefore if, and I am sure I will, call upon your interpretative and deductive skills, you’ll will understand I’m not dyslexic, merely too lazy to change it. So long as you can get the overall feel/message, what’s a few misplaced letters really?

For the last 6 years on and off I have lived in a little town called Bunbury in the forlorn state of Western Australia, a place far away from anything exciting. After attending 11 different schools, and running out of fingers to count the towns I’ve called home, I think I can quite safely announce that I caught the travel bug. I guess I can lay the blame entirely on my Dad’s work. Dad’s work was the reason I now not wanted but needed to explore this crazy world.

I’ve basically covered Australia and New Zealand already, bits of China and most of Indonesia/Malaysia area. As such I have applied for the study abroad program at my University in Perth, to attend second semester in 2012 at the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom, its about 30minutes north of London. Who’s keen. I’m keen.

Bit of an FYI: I’m an absolute sucker for old fashion stories; the enchanting balls and honourable gentlemen, the duels. The idea of visiting castles, living with people with super cute accents, and on weekends driving through multiple countries is as exciting to me as it would be to an alcoholic wining a year’s free supply of alcohol.

I have also decided that in each blog I want to summarise the entire blog in one quick status update/twitter post etc, which I’m sure everyone these days understands.

I think for this update it would be:

100th blog attempt, better late than never

Well there we have it let’s see how this blogging thing works.
